SHENZHEN – The technology companies from Taiwan, Foxconn, says that within the next three years they will replace some workers with 1 million units of the robot.
“The use of robots is expected to cut labor costs labor expenses and improve efficiency,” said Terry Gou, Chairman and President of Foxconn.
As quoted by Xinhua on Monday (08/01/2011), Gou said that the robots will be used to perform simple and routine work such as spraying, assembling and welding, which is now being done by human workers.
“Currently Foxconn already has 10 thousand robots and that number will increase to 300 thousand units of the robot in 2012, and 1 million units within the next three years,” said Gou.
Foxconn, is one of the largest computer component maker that also assembles products for Apple, Sony and Nokia.
Some time ago, Foxconn factory in China made headlines in the media because of the suicide of its workers, is also an explosion in one factory assemblers iPad theirs.
Foxconn currently employs 1.2 million workers, with 1 million of which are in mainland China. In addition, one major manufacturer Foxconn is also located in the Republic Ceska.
